It's loud. It's really busy. There are cabs and bicycles zooming in to and fro, and pedestrians manifest rebellion by their refusal to respect the lights; "jaywalking ... what jaywalking?"

The last time we met with Mary before she left for the Philippines was when she had to come to the city to pick up her security deposit refund from when she used to live here. She used to go to NYU so her apartment was located at the East Village, or the epicenter of hipsterdom, as I'd always jokingly liked to call it.

Here's me with Karla. We were outside the renting office, waiting for Mer.
For a typical Spring weather, that day had been pretty warm. Perfect for walking outside! So after eating lunch at Cosi, we headed towards SoHo to check out the shops ... but not before stopping by Pinkberry first.

Karla, being the shopaholic that she is, had made a list of all the stores she wanted to look at. Among others, it incuded DASH, Longchamp, Uniqlo, TopShop, Muji, Tory Burch, Urban Outfitters and Cath Kidston.

It's so quirky, the things they sell at Urban, haha!
Mary still had to go back to Philadelphia so we needed to head up Midtown so she could make it to her scheduled train in Penn Station. Karla was sleeping over my place so after saying goodbye to Mer, we had some more cupcakes from Crumbs, ehe. treasure metal detectors

YUM! NOM!

The next day, it was just me and K so obviously it became a 'local-takes-the-tourist-around' kind of day. This time we focused on Fifth Avenue : Apple Store, FAO Schwarz, Bloomingdale's, The Trump Tower, Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, St. Patrick's, Bryant Park (etc)

Madeline!
NAdeline! :P

The best thing about New York is that there's always something interesting, something different to look at. (Streets almost always congested that no velvet rope, crowd control, even barricades and stanchions can hold the public). It's full of women, beautiful, at all ages. Men, so metrosexual, I have no idea who's gay or not, lol. But srsly! It's still amusing to me how this city manages to completely sweep me off my feet. It's just so awesome, so electrically-positively charged that it pulsates me - tells me that everything is possible - and I believe it.

Day at the Museum (of Natural History) + Cupcakes!

I love how polished and chic circle/infinity scarves look when paired with blazers!
You know what, I take that back... I love everything scarf-related, period! This one belongs to my friend, Karla, but I also have the same exact one in mustard yellow. Don't you think it's purdy? <3

The next group of pictures I will be posting have been taken two months (give or take a few days) ago. This just goes to show how backlogged I am with this whole "documenting my life" thing; I currently have four more drafts filled with albums and such, so let's get this thing started! :P

This entry will be a really quick & simple one. And I bet you already have an idea of what it's going to be, judging from the title... Yup, it's about that time that Karla and I spent the day in the city! We met really, really early - 9 am - by the Post Office near Ground Zero because she had to be dropped off, and subsequently picked up early, by her Uncle (they live in New Jersey). The weather wasn't very cooperative so as much as we wanted to just stroll around outside & be all touristy, we couldn't - that was how the museum ordeal came about. womens sandals

Here's the visitor, all toasty and snuggly in her coat!

And the tour guide, heh.

Here's 6th Ave looking dreary...

We actually spent 5 hours inside (lunch included)! You would think for that amount of time we'd have covered everything, right? Nope! The place was just overly huge that it's impossible to cover everything in a day.

DUM DUM!!!
O_O
This makes me want to live on the Red Giant Star...
Tickets! It's actually the pay whatever you wanna pay kind - fares are not fixed!
The friendly dino from the movie! :)
The lions looked so real! :3

After our very intellectual-stimulating date, we headed to 34th and 6th. You know that my friendship with Mary started because of our common love for Mark Feehily (of Westlife), right? Well, me and Karla are bound by cupcakes... Lol, not really. But we do enjoooy eating them! :P

Ten years later, what was known to be as Sweet Valley is now as sour as a freshly squeezed lemon.

If my domain name was an indication of something, it would obviously be that I am a huge Jessica Wakefield wannabee. My obsession for the "younger, more popular twin" started right after I learned how to read - let's safely say 6/7 years. I'm 24 now but once in awhile would still secretly wish that, even for just one more time I could read a new piece, get the latest 411, and know more about my now older childhood bestfriends - characters from SV California.

(Warning spoilers included!)

My initial reaction when I heard about dear ol' Pascal releasing a new book (thanks to Twitter's Trending Topics) was MISS GOLLY GOSH THAT'S INCREDILOUS! But like any other Amazon reviewer, I ate my words. The "story" opens with Elizabeth's POV. We learn of her move to New York City to get away from (ugh, really?!?) sistah' and Wilkins ... who apparently hooked up (as if!!!). As the plot progresses, we also come to know that Jessica, age 27, has now become an idiot given that she can't finish a sentence without interjecting "like" and "so" after every two words. Oh yeah, and remember their brother Steven (who come to think of it, might actually be my first literary crush)? He's turned GAY! Yup, where'd that come from huh?! school girl outfits

In an alternate universe, I will not suck at giving reviews. But we're living in reality. As much as I want to write snarky remarks against Francine, the a/c guy that's currently fixing our unit is making it impossible for me to condense my (semi-) witty thoughts into words. So here: SV Confidential sucks! Boohoo.

And now, a few grainy webcam photos to balance out this relatively dull entry, ehe.
Yey! It's finally warm enough to wear tank tops! 'Scuse the greasy fez, I haven't showered yet!

Osama Bin Laden vs The World

There are a lot of different feelings and opinions about the death of Osama Bin Laden. For me personally, I’d say it’s mostly bittersweet. While it's a day to celebrate one victory against the war on terrorism, I believe it should also be a moment to remember those who we’ve lost at the cost of it all - that their sacrifices, never forgotten.
I see a lot of people saying that we shouldn't be celebrating the death of any individual, this one included... my question to those people is WHY NOT?!? This man caused some of the worst atrocities in history, destroyed thousands of lives, and spent years taunting America (and the whole world, basically) while inflicting pain and suffering on its citizens. I realize his death won't erase any of that... at the same time, if you honestly expect me NOT to feel any gratification, satisfaction, or happiness over this then you are out of your mind.
The world is a better place without Osama. His demise may not end terrorism or fix all of this world's problems but this isn't just a ~celebration of death~ ... it's the commemoration of the hard work of our armed forces, the sacrifices made by the innocent, and most importantly justice's prevalence. tech jobs

Next to my vintage watch, one accessory I will never leave the house without are dangling earrings. I would rather be naked than roam bsn online (?!?) or the city without them! I just love how they can alter my face's roundedness into a much more flattering, um, err, shape ... I guess. But seriously, it's just impressive how they turn a blah-everyday look into something of great elegance.

Pictured above is my favorite one/pair (at the moment; which really isn't saying a lot, seeing that it changes weekly, more on that later).

The B. Clan is in America!

A good chunk of my March + the start of April was basically spent with my high school besties.
(a very photo-heavy post : as they say, pictures are worth thousands of words)

Me, Karla & Kari in Times Square!!!
( Taken after we window shopped at Forever 21, right before our dinner at Tad's Steakhouse with Hero & Bryan / an all-mornighter Karaoke fest. We got home at 4:30 <3 <3 <3 )

The next day, we visited Mary in Philadelphia. Luckily, Ryan extended his stay so we got to hang out with him too!

With 1 of the 2 "crazy kids". I'll badly miss you, Merrr - she's almost leaving for the Philippines to get into Med school. :'''(

My favorite shot was this one taken by Ryan. I loff you girls!!!

Watched a Phillies (boo, I'm a Yankee through and through, loljk!) vs Rangers (I think?!?) game and got 'featured' on the jumbotron during half-time. :-P

This was how Karla and I looked like at the end of a funlong day, hee :
(Taken while we were supposed to be enjoying Hot Tub Time Machine ... or maybe we were just high from sniffing too much air purifiers, ehe.)

There will be more pictures to follow - it's just that, a certain someone *coughKARLAcough* still refuses to upload her shots on Facebook, hrmp!

Eeenie Meenie Haul : Sephora

Texas truck accident lawyers, unicorn trainers or you may already be aware of my obsession with Sephora; if not, let me reiterate it once again. Pictured above are how I spent my blogging earnings (I also got a new pair of black knee high boots out of it. And on that note, I sadly have to let go of my beloved, worn-out thigh highs, huhu).

Here's the "damage" (aka the girly 'necessities' my domain paid for)
Korres' Mango Butter Lipstick in #24 (Purple)
Koress' Mango Butter Lipstick in #54 (Fuschia)
Benefit's Feelin Cheeky! Minis (Benetint, High Beam, Posietint)
Sephora by OPI nail polish in Just A Little Dangerous
Sephora by OPI nail colour drying drops
Anastasia's lip/eyepencil sharpener

I am presently enforcing a (strict!) makeup buying ban on myself seeing as I have enough products/backups to last me through a year, maybe two. But if there's one thing my friends can attest to, it's that cosmetics are my kryptonite so... we'll see... dun, dun, dun!!!

Peg / Thinspo.

This summer, I need to be that girl that the boys are always throwing in, or playing splashies! with in the pool. That girl that just sits on his shoulders; whose endless laugh infects the whole of the vicinity. That girl that walks freely around the deck (or sits on 2 step stools) without looking for something to cover her belly - and is okay with those tagged photos the day after ...

Or I could just be that girl that snacks on Nutella while doing a Shaycarl marathon.
