I first heard about I Am Number Four when Jen, my cousin, BBMed me (ooh, mine is - 21694225) about it. We were chatting about hewlett packard toner cartridges (JK!) and just usual, random stuff when she asked me if I've heard/known of said book. I replied with a no. She in turn gushed and flooded me with messages about it; "You HAVE TO read it!"
I kind of forgot about our conversation until I saw a TV commercial : its movie trailer. Truthfully, it was because of the actors playing the characters that sparked my interest (Glee's Dianna Agron & Alex omnomnom Pettyfer!), but the plot had an awesomely cool concept to it too... In a nutshell, the premise is that nine gifted Alien children fled their annihilated planet, Lorien, to seek refuge on Earth. They are being hunted down by another extraterrestrial race from a dying planet but because of a charm casted upon them, they could only be canned in a chronological order. The book opens with number Three's death & so we follow number Four.
When Harry Potter exploded, everyone fantasized over wizards. When Twilight came, everybody suddenly switched to adoring vampires. Towards the end of last year, there was so much hype over zombies thanks to (a personal favorite of mine) The Walking Dead. I'm betting that because of this, people will worship, yet again (like that time when The X-Files & E.T. were really big) aliens.
