Hey, at least it's better than drinking!

The past few days have just been extra stressful that last night I went inside Rite-Aid to eat chocolates. The cashier started laughing when I brought her empty wrappers: "Where did you eat these?", she asked. And I was like, "Um. In the corner by the aisle with the male enhancement pills."

Sigh.

Total dopamine rush though! You do what you have to do, man.

A girl, a blog, and the rest of 2K11.

I need to face it! My 2010 was pretty uneventful. It felt like all I ever did was oversleep, overeat and overwork - such shame, really, a waste of what could have been a great year. However, there's no use in crying over spilled milk (because you could always get the housecat to lick the mess for you - well, that or use a vacuum ... I hope you're getting my point).

I'm tired of the dull, monotonous cycle. This 2011, I need to have goals; not flimsy resolutions, but goals - that I will write about from time to time because I believe that by putting it out there (internet land), I'll most likely succeed.

Do you know that it only takes 3500 calories to form one pound of fat. Well, most shakes can carry 800 calories in them and sodas can have up to 200 - although you don't really always "count" those since you just drink them, right? ~Right? Or is that just me? Maybe that's how I lost my abdominal cuts huhucry.~ If you haven't figured out by now, I'm head over heels with flavored iced tea(s) and iced coffee(s). I remember even binging on FIVE cold frapps on that one extra stressful Saturday night. Eep!

That's why for my first goal, I plan to completely abolish non-aqueous substances. Hah! It's gonna be hard but I think I could actually do it. I've actually managed to stay away from carbonated drinks for two months now, it has been weeks since my last caffeine shot and the last raspberry iced tea I had was from around a week and a half[?] ago when Mary and I had lunch at Cosi.

Just in! It's snowing in NYC ... again.

I've lost count - what is this, the ninth one now?

When it snows in New York, it's absolutely beautiful ... for about 2 hours. And then it gets dirty and the waste doesn't get collected for days, ugh. Yeah, it's all sorts of disgusting on the sidewalks at the moment.

In my recent entry, I forgot to (write about myonox and) mention that aside from treating myself to two awesome movies over the weekend, I also "splurged" out on drugstore cosmetics ... and by that I meant raiding CVS for their much talked about Clearance Sale.

Here's the loot :

It wasn't much because most of the stuff in the store had already been picked on. Man, girls are really savages when it comes to makeup! I'm really happy with the stuff I got though. Oh, and here are my savings ---
  • L'Oreal Gel Liner & Physician's Formula Mineral Powder (originally $16 each w/ 75% off) = $4 each
  • Covergirl LipSlick (originally $4.44 w/ 50% off) = $2.22
  • Revlon Age Defying Foundation (originally $9ish-something w/ 40% off) = $5ish
  • L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara (which I actually paid full price for) = $8
Amazeballs, isn't it?!?

The next thing I know, we're down at the cinema - we're sitting there, you start kissing me. What's that about?

I rarely went online back in the Philippines; and during the times I did, it would only be for checking my Friendster account or to search for the safest diet pill loljk. Upon moving here, I fell in love with the internet and all of its perks. The thing I like the most about it is that it lets me watch movies without the hassle of actually going to the theaters and spending for tickets/snacks. I remember having marathons that sometimes ran up to seeing 5 per day ... for a movie buff, that was awesome!

I kind of had to put that indulgence in the backseat when life (ugh!) took over. But when I visited Mary in Philadelphia and we watched a film a night [Inception, 127 Hours and Black Swan] before going to sleep, I realized that I missed it & that I wanted to get back into the groove.

Last week was really stressful for me because of work so I rewarded myself with two movies over the weekend : The Roommate and It's Kind of a Funny Story.

The best thing is to look natural-- but it takes makeup to do that too!

Because of strict high school rules, I never got into makeup until college. I was as clueless as Alicia Silverstone about "proper application techniques" that the first time I plastered a mossy green eyeshadow on my lids (for a friend's debut), I looked like someone Manny Pacquiao had been on the ring with. In university, classmates (and sometimes even, teachers) often stopped me to say, "Your cheeks are so rosy, are those natural?" ... but I somehow managed to pull off the mestiza look - thanks to overblushing.

Three years ago, I started really getting into it, to the point of actually obsessing over it. My morning routine used to only consist of showering, brushing my teeth, dressing up and then brushing my hair - tasks that can be accomplished within 20 minutes (I should get trophies for that)! Now I need an hour MINIMUM.

Living for the one who gave life to me.

I would always start fights when my cousins teased me for being spoiled. Looking back, I guess I was just too naive to see that they were right : all the toys I would cry for at the mall at age 6, numerous trips outside the country, new clothes & pretty dresses every week, a brand new ‘97 Honda Civic in grade school named after me - but, those luxuries have long been gone... It is only now that I am much older that I appreciate the things typically taken for granted by those who continue to enjoy the comfort of their parents’ wealth. Although these monetary pleasures and exclusive privileges no longer exist for the both of us, I appreciate her for doing her best to give me everything I needed despite going at it alone.

After my Dad passed away, I was left in the care of my grandparents. My mom had always been the antithesis of mothers who stayed at home, baked pastries for her children, and maintained the household; but I could never say that I envied the kids who had stay-at-home moms because the very few homemakers I knew were dull, boring.

We definitely have had some of the most heated arguments, the flames of which are usually produced by my incendiary remarks and penchant for barbarism when insisting upon myself. I am constantly tempted to unload an insensitive list of grievances against her, the most popular would be to blame her decision to change careers and transpose our lives to a foreign land that seemed to not take kindly to the once spoiled one.

While I sometimes envy her for achieving an almost sacred patience and cessation from material pleasures, she has acknowledged that the calm and serenity that she embodies now is a culmination of her wealth of experience. It seems as though nothing fazes her anymore. The respect she awards me, it feels like something I have also earned because we both have evolved together & shared the life of once having much and watching it all slowly crumble into dust.

I sound as if I am reciting her eulogy as if she is somehow dead and buried. No. But perhaps a part of her is. Because if there is a lesson that we both have learned since coming to America, it is that there is an infinite amount of chances for people to recreate themselves. It is as though we cycle through the stages of life, death, and rebirth within our own lives.

Thanks, Mommy.

The Lorien Legacies.

I first heard about I Am Number Four when Jen, my cousin, BBMed me (ooh, mine is - 21694225) about it. We were chatting about hewlett packard toner cartridges (JK!) and just usual, random stuff when she asked me if I've heard/known of said book. I replied with a no. She in turn gushed and flooded me with messages about it; "You HAVE TO read it!"

I kind of forgot about our conversation until I saw a TV commercial : its movie trailer. Truthfully, it was because of the actors playing the characters that sparked my interest (Glee's Dianna Agron & Alex omnomnom Pettyfer!), but the plot had an awesomely cool concept to it too... In a nutshell, the premise is that nine gifted Alien children fled their annihilated planet, Lorien, to seek refuge on Earth. They are being hunted down by another extraterrestrial race from a dying planet but because of a charm casted upon them, they could only be canned in a chronological order. The book opens with number Three's death & so we follow number Four.

When Harry Potter exploded, everyone fantasized over wizards. When Twilight came, everybody suddenly switched to adoring vampires. Towards the end of last year, there was so much hype over zombies thanks to (a personal favorite of mine) The Walking Dead. I'm betting that because of this, people will worship, yet again (like that time when The X-Files & E.T. were really big) aliens.

Zombies VS Unicorns

I know, I know, I take the crappiest webcam pictures.
I have no interest in hot tub covers and unicorns (although admittedly when I was in grade school, I collected those Lisa Frank ones) - and with that, let me just say right away that I skipped through all of the unicorn stories. Zombies, on the other hand, fascinate me ... and much of that interest can be blamed on AMC's The Walking Dead.

I took a random quiz from their site and this was the result, lol!
But, this entry is not about that... nor is it about analyzing this particular book. This is simply just a quick update to let you know that ya, I'm still alive & the sudden disappearance is because I've been immensely sick / living inside fantasy worlds - I Am Number Four (by Pittacus Lore), you are next!

V : Anything You Want To Post About

A quick recap on what has happened since the last time I posted something (4 days ago).

January 21 [Friday] - Spent the first half of my day at the hospital (where I saw a lot of yummy Dr. McDreamy's and sexy residents -- okay that's embarrassing ... I needed to be there because my godmother was confined for Laparoscopy & I had to take care of her), the next quarter doing work, and for the remaining hours, I met with Rainier, Chel & Mary Grace for a night of Chinese food & booze.

January 22 & 23 [weekend] - I worked for the most part but was pretty much just situated at home, shopping online (even though I know I'm as broke as that gay Heath Ledger movie). I also finished half of my The Simple Life 4 : 'Til Death Do Us Part DVD and I lived off my new favorite cereal, Kellogg's Smorz!

January 24 [today] - OH OH OH!!! Remember the Jillian Michaels exercise routine I've started doing last Monday? I stepped on the scale today and found out that I LOST FOUR POUNDS ZOMG!!! O___O  I wasn't expecting that at all... What's weird is that I actually haven't changed my eating ways (it's still as carbohydrate-y as ever!), but I'm still right on track on my soda ban - it's been almost a month since I said goodbye to my carbonated friends. I physically don't look any different, still, but obviously that'll happen gradually. I'm just so excited because at least it's something/a start! I just want to go back to how my body looked like before I moved here because Lord knows I've gained a looot (America, why must you be so creme-filled?).

IV : Favorite Store To Buy From

I guess it's the same feeling as being into illegal substances. While Snoop Dogg has his weed, I have my crack - Sephora is my crack. <3

I discovered this wonderfully enchanted place years ago & I have been hooked ever since. I am like a little girl when I walk in its doors ... all of the pretty colors, enchanting smells, a vanity mirror every ten steps! It mesmerizes me!!!

herp a link that you can ignore / fat burners that work here / trying to make a living derp

They have the bestest deals too! The last time I bought from their site, I was sent this (pictured) massive kit filled with awesome freebies-- they also gift their " Beauty Insiders' " birthday presents! Two years ago I got 3 great lipglosses; last year I had an eyeshadow, a liner & mascara; and this year they'll be giving away Philosophy's Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath in Vanilla Cupcake *my favorite scent : they so get me* !
